  • Information regarding: Google Classroom Expectations for Parent/Carers and pupils

    Tue 20 Oct 2020

This is a learning platform where Teachers will share learning links, messages, resources and homework with pupils. Teachers will be setting weekly homework for children to complete:

    ·MyMaths -weekly Maths homework

    ·Spelling Shed –weekly Spelling words

·Bug Club to set reading books (Myon additional resources for Year 2-6)

·Google Classroom –weekly Grammar in KS2

·Google Classroom for Half Term Project -Pupils can upload their projects or bring them into school to share in class.

    1)     Teachers are very busy teaching and planning for pupils learning in school. Teachers will try to acknowledge work and respond to emails once a week. Therefore we ask for your patience and understanding when it comes to receiving your responses to emails and pupils work.

    2)     Completed work will be acknowledged in school through rewards and certificates

    3)     Additional learning resources do not need to be submitted, these are just extra resources to support families and pupils at home.

    Google classroom code of conduct

    1)     We only use kind words, to each other and to adults. All messages are recorded, even if you delete them. Any inappropriate messages will be dealt with accordingly.

    2)     Please only use the class Stream (main page) to ask questions, all responses will be kept to the main stream.

    3)     Check the deadlines and timings of assignments - some events will be at certain times and if you are late it will be recorded.

    4)     Only you are allowed to use your account - do not give your details to anyone else.

    5)     Remember part of learning is making mistakes. Always be honest and complete tasks according to the instructions. Teachers can't give you the help and support you need if you google the answers - use your brain and learn from your mistakes! And finally, this is a new process so don't worry if you are struggling. We will work together to make this a fun learning experience. You may have issues logging on or using Google classroom, we will work it out together. Please be patient and we promise you it will be worth it. If you have any questions or comments please email vpy12lfp@theparkfederation.org  /post below, remember to follow the rules.

Reminder for our Wellbeing to try to avoid where possible posting or work being submitted after 6:00pm

  • Advice to All Parents - Single case of COVID-19

    Tue 13 Oct 2020

    13th October 2020

    Dear Parents/Carers

Advice to All Parents - Single case of COVID-19

We have been made aware of a member of our school community who has tested positive for COVID 19.

We know that you may find this concerning but we are continuing to monitor the situation and are working closely with Public Health England. This letter is to inform you of the current situation and provide advice on how to support your child. Please be reassured that for most people, coronavirus (COVID-19) will be a mild illness.

The small number of children who have been in close contact with the individual who has tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) have received a letter informing them that their child must stay at home for 14 days.

The school remains open and your child should continue to attend as normal if they remain well.

What to do if your child develops symptoms of COVID 19

If your child develops symptoms of COVID-19, they must not come to school and should remain at home for at least 10 days from the date when their symptoms appeared. Anyone with symptoms will be eligible for testing and this can be arranged via https://www.nhs.uk/ask-for-a-coronavirus-test or by calling 119.

All other household members who remain well, must stay at home and not leave the house for 14 days. This includes anyone in your ‘Support Bubble’.

Further information is available at: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-stay-at-home-guidance/stay-at-home-guidance-for-households-with-possible-coronavirus-covid-19-infection

The 14-day period starts from the day when the first person in the house became ill.

Household members should not go to work, school or public areas and exercise should be taken within the home.

If you require help with buying groceries, other shopping or picking up medication, or walking a dog, you should ask friends or family. Alternatively, you can order your shopping online and medication by phone or online.

Household members staying at home for 14 days will greatly reduce the overall amount of infection the household could pass on to others in the community

If you are able, move any vulnerable individuals (such as the elderly and those with underlying health conditions) out of your home, to stay with friends or family for the duration of the home isolation period.

    Symptoms

The most common symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) are recent onset of:

    • a new continuous cough
    • a high temperature
    • a loss of, or change in, your normal sense of taste or smell (anosmia)

For most people, coronavirus (COVID-19) will be a mild illness.

If your child does develop symptoms, you can seek advice from the nhs.uk website at https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/check-if-you-have-coronavirus-symptoms/. If you are concerned about your child’s symptoms, or they are worsening you can seek advice from NHS 111 at https://111.nhs.uk/ or by phoning 111.

    How to stop COVID-19 spreading

There are things you can do to help reduce the risk of you and anyone you live with getting ill with COVID-19

    Do

    • wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds
    • use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available
    • wash your hands as soon as you get home
    • cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
    • put used tissues in the bin immediately and wash your hands afterwards

    Yours sincerely

  • Return of school books

    Mon 12 Oct 2020

    12th October 2020

    Dear Parents / Carers

To ensure we have a wide range of books to offer pupils when reading at home, we politely ask that if you have any school reading books from last year, that you please return these in your child’s book bag.

We offer our pupils a range of resources to develop their reading fluency and comprehension at home. This could be through MyOn, Bug Club, their set reading book or even hearing you read a shared story together. These resources support, engage and encourage all pupils to be reading daily. If you need any support with these resources, please speak to your class teacher or email vpy12lfp@theparkfederation.org

Thank you in advance for your support to ensure all pupils are engaged, enjoy and develop a love of reading.

    Yours faithfully

To celebrate and raise awareness of #hello yellow and mental health awareness week, we would like to invite pupils to come to school dressed in yellow on Friday 9th October.
  • Attendance and Parentpay

    Wed 07 Oct 2020
    1. Parents/Carers need to make sure to report their child’s absence every day. This can be done by leaving a voice message before 9:30 am or calling the school office. If the school has not heard from the parent/carer by 11:00, your child's absence will be marked as UNAUTHORISED. Unauthorised marks may lead to FINES from the Participation team. This will also affect the child's overall attendance. Further persistence absence will lead to court action.
    2. If a child is not in school for a few days, parents MUST inform the school EVERY DAY (except children who have been sent home from school to self-isolate). Parent/carers need to call on the day of absence.
    3. Voice Messages regarding Attendance : Parents need to leave a clear message with their child/ren's name, class and the reason for their absence. If a parent leaves a message and the reason for absence is unwell or not feeling well this will be unauthorised.
    4. Lunch Money Parent/Carers should top up lunch money promptly. This will avoid delay in child choosing their lunch in the morning.
    5. Moving to another school - Parent/Carer should let the school know that the child is moving to a different school and must fill in the leavers from.
