  • National day of reflection

    Mon 22 Mar 2021

    Dear Parents / Carers

Since the first lockdown began in 2020, hundreds of thousands of people have died. Too many lives have been cut short and millions have been bereaved.

Behind the statistics and whatever the cause, every death has been devastating for the people left behind.

Join us on 23 March, the first anniversary of the first UK lockdown, for a National Day of Reflection to reflect on our collective loss, support those who've been bereaved, and hope for a brighter future.

There are still tough times ahead, as the death toll continues to rise. This annual day will give us all time to pause and think about this unprecedented loss we're facing, and support each other through grief in the years to come.

Marie Curie, the charity has organised this day for the nation.

The Park Federation would like all academies to take part in this. A number of pupils and staff have lost someone close to this horrible pandemic so we can show our support in the following ways listed below:

    1. LFPA will have a 1 minute silence at 9 am tomorrow.

    2. Can all classes please organise for children to view the youtube video before or after the 1 minute silence. resources https:// www.mariecurie.org.uk/get- involved/day-of-reflection

Below are some activities you can do with your class:

Put a colourful poster or flowers in your window

You can draw, paint, create your own art or simply colour in one of these posters made by ARTventurers  . Show your support by placing it in your window before 23 March and sharing on social media using #DayofReflection.

If you want to bring in a bit of nature, then you can buy some beautiful yellow spring flowers, and on 23 March, pop them somewhere your neighbours can see. You might want to send a bunch to someone who's grieving so they know you're thinking about them.

Or how about planting some yellow flowers? Fill your garden or put one or two in a pot. Part of a community gardening group? Create a #DayOfReflection display to honour your local community. Read some top tips for planting spring flowers from the RHS.

Create your own hand-crafted daffodil thanks to Hobbycraft's step-by-step guide.   For every pack sold within the Day of Reflection bundle, a 25p donation by Staedtler will be made to Marie Curie.

    Shine a light at 8pm

At 8 pm we'll hold a minute's silence and come together to light up the night. Stand outside with a light – a candle, a torch, even your phone - to remember someone who's died and show your support to people going through a bereavement.

Alternatively, you can shine a light in your window for everyone to see.

    Yours sincerely

  • Healthy School Lunch

    Wed 17 Mar 2021

    Dear Parent / Carer

Lunch is an important meal for children to provide energy and nutrients to keep them going throughout the afternoon.
To grow and stay healthy, children need to eat a nutritionally well-balanced diet. Good nutrition in childhood can help to prevent a variety of health problems, both in the short term and later in life. There is increasing concern that many children are consuming too much fat, sugar and salt. Packed lunches can contribute to almost a third of a child’s weekly food intake and therefore needs to be balanced and nutritious. Our catering company, Pabulum offers a well-balanced school lunch. If your child is in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2 is entitled to a free school meal.

Please click on the link to view the menu for school lunches.

As Lake Farm Park Academy is a Nut-free school please do not send your child/ren in with any food that may contain nuts.

Click on the link to view Healthy School policy

The key to a healthy packed lunch is variety and getting the right balance of foods to provide children with all of the nutrients they need to stay healthy.

  • School Attendance

    Wed 03 Mar 2021

    Dear Parents & Carers,

We are keen to work in partnership with parents to welcome all children back to school following a challenging few months of lockdown. We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to parent/carers for the work you have done in ensuring your child/ren have received education during this period.

We are delighted to be re-opening the school to all pupils on the 8th March 2021 where children can return to their usual routines and benefit from and enjoy all that is on offer to them at school.

During the recent lockdowns, the government made it clear that no parent would be penalised or sanctioned for their child’s non-attendance at school at that time due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Schools were then closed to all but a specific group of pupils; those of critical workers and vulnerable children.

Now the circumstances have changed, it is vital for all children to return to school to minimise, as far as possible, the longer-term impact of the pandemic on their education, wellbeing and wider development. We know that children have missed being with their friends and the wider social aspects of the school.

Missing out on more time in the classroom risks pupils falling further behind. Good attendance is key to your child being able to fulfil their potential and make good progress in school. One of the most important ways a parent can support the education of their child and the child’s social, emotional and academic development is to ensure they attend every day and on time.

School attendance is, therefore, compulsory again from the week of 8th March 2021.

This means from the week commencing 8th March 2021, the usual rules on school attendance apply, including:

    • parents’ duty to send their child to school regularly where they are of compulsory school age;
    • schools’ responsibilities to record attendance and follow up absence
    • the availability of local authorities to use legal sanctions, including penalty notices and prosecution in court.

I know that, understandably, some of our pupils and families are hesitant about returning to school. However, in line with our commitment to provide every pupil with an education that is right for them, we will make sure that each and every pupil feels safe, secure and supported. If you are worried about your child attending school, please contact Miss. Dickerson, Pupils and Families Liaison Worker on 0208 5732622 where we can discuss your concerns.

In addition, it would not be advisable to take your child out of school for unauthorised exceptional leave once schools re-open, as your child could miss out on the focussed additional support for pupils to close the gap in learning missed during the period of lockdown. Any leave that is unauthorised by the school may lead to Penalty Notices being issued or legal action being initiated by Hillingdon Participation Team.

After so much disruption to your child/ren’s education over recent months, the most important thing is that schools and parents work together to get children back into school. We are ready to listen so please contact us if you have any concerns and we will try to help you.

    Yours sincerely,

  • Google Classroom Survey

    Mon 01 Mar 2021

We have created a survey on Google Classroom for you and our pupils.

We would greatly appreciate your and your children’s feedback so we can continue to improve the quality of our remote teaching and learning.
