In the New Year, pupils will be sent home on a Friday with their phonics packs these will include their usual spelling words, some real and nonsense words to practice at home and our addition RWI phonics book. These books will go home every Friday and will be expected to be returned on the Monday.
We ask that for this to be successful that you read these books over the weekend with your children to embed the phonics skills they have learnt that week. These books are familiar to the pupils and will build up their reading stamina. All pupils must return books on Monday to ensure they can be used in phonics for other pupils that week. We have a limited number of resources and therefore we ask that you respect these books whilst they are in your care. Pupils are not to write on or inside these books and any lost books will result in a charge to parents on parent pay as per the remissions and charging policy.
We thank you in advance for your support with our Phonics and Reading scheme (RWI) and we will be running parent workshops in the new year to support parents further with their pupils and phonics and how to prepare for the phonics screening.
